Missouri approved Amendment Two in November 2018 which allowed medical marijuana. While you are able to apply for a medical marijuana card in Kansas City Missouri currently, cannabis dispensaries won't be open in the next few months, possibly by mid-to late 2020. Many Missouri providers will not conduct assessments until the state's policies are reduced.

Become a Missouri patient

It is easy to obtain the Missouri patient medical cannabis card. The requirements for obtaining the Missouri medical cannabis card are easy. The patient must be at least 18 years old, a Missouri resident, and have the qualifying condition which is officially recognized by a doctor who has completed this required form. The patient has to fill out the form and upload it within 30 working days. A patient will also need to fill out online applications.

The criteria for the eligibility of a state differ. The Missouri Constitution defines qualifying conditions as:

Cancer
Epilepsy
Glaucoma
Migraines that are not responsive to other treatments
The medical condition can cause constant, severe muscular spasms or pain. It can be caused by multiple sclerosis, seizures, and Parkinson's disease.
A psychiatrist who is licensed in the state can diagnose and treat debilitating mental disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
Human immunodeficiency virus (or acquired immune deficiency Syndrome)
When a doctor determines that medical marijuana could be an alternative to prescription drugs for a medical condition that is chronic, the physician will recommend medical marijuana.
A terminal disease that is terminal
Other chronic, debilitating, or medical conditions identified by a doctor may include hepatitis C and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Crohn's Disease, Huntington's Disease, neuropathies, and autism.

Application and fee

The following information must be provided to patients before they are able to submit an online application

The most important data is your name, birth date of birth, and social security number.
Mailing Address and Email address
Missouri residency verification Photocopy of a Missouri driver's license, identification card from Missouri or a Missouri registration of a vehicle.
The physician Certificate Form has to be signed and completed by a doctor licensed in Missouri. The form must be provided within 30 days from the date that the patient made their application. For submission electronically, the form must be either scanned or photographed.
A visible copy of the ID Card issued by the government.
If necessary, the consent of the parent or legal guardian of non-emancipated eligible patients.
A clear, vivid color photo of the qualifying patient taken within the past three (3) months
OPTIONAL: A note stating whether the patient receives aid through any Missouri programs If so the program.
A declaration that identifies if the patient seeks permission to grow marijuana for medical reasons
Attestation statement: A short statement that confirms the identity of the patient

How do you be a caregiver for someone who isn't you?

Caregivers must have at least 21 years old and be able to assume the responsibility of taking care of qualified medical marijuana patients. Caregivers are able to care for three patients at a time, however, patients are only allowed to have two caregivers. To designate their caregiver, qualifying patients have to submit an authorization. This form must be completed using the application online.

Rules and regulations

Missouri does not permit you to become a medical marijuana patient even if you've had a previous conviction. Once you have obtained a medical cannabis card, their patient or caregiver status could be canceled in the event of a conviction.

Once state-licensed dispensaries are open, patients can purchase and possess as much as four ounces of unprocessed dried cannabis. Patients will need to pay a 4 percent tax for purchasing cannabis at a state-licensed dispensary.

Patients or caregivers who are licensed to cultivate may cultivate up to six mature plants per patient in secure and secured facilities. Missouri law permits patient cultivation. The department can't provide any details on how or where to get seeds.

Missouri Medical Marijuana Program strongly states that it doesn't offer reciprocity to out-of-state medical marijuana patients. Only Missouri residents who qualify are eligible to participate in the program.
